  Saurav Ghosal & Chinappa clinch squash gold in national games in Kerala: 4/2/2015

Thiruvananthapuram: The seasoned squash duo of Saurav Ghosal and Joshana Chinappa clinched the individual gold in contrasting styles in the 35th National Games in India.

It saw complete domination by Tamil Nadu as all the finalists in both the men's and women's competition belonged to the state. First up was women's singles in which the seasoned Joshana Chinappa did not have much trouble in sailing past Lakshya R 11-5 11-8 11-4 to nab the gold medal.

The bronze medals went to losing semifinalists -- Urwashi Joshi of Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh's Sachika Ingale.

In the men's summit clash, Ghosal rallied to beat Harinder Pal Singh Sandhu after conceding the initial advantage. He won the match 4-11 11-4 11-8 11-6 to expectedly walk away with the top honours, while bronze-medallists were Delhi's Gaurav Nadrajoy and Tamil Nadu's Ravi Dixit.

Gold for Harinder and Aprajitha 

   
 

Anwesha Reddy (TN) lost to Aprajitha (TN) in a nail biting five match set. Anwesha was leading with 2-0 when Aprajitha came back in the third game and won it by 13-11. The next two game was easily won by Aprajitha as there was no fight back from Anwesha.In the Men’s final, Harinder dominated the proceedings apart from dropping the second game against state mate Ravi Dixit. Ravi tried his level best to pull off his second upset in the event after defeating Sandeep Jangra in the semi finals. But he could not do it and Harinder won the match easily.
