MUMBAI University’s top seed
Vikram Malhotra blanked Karthik Sharma from Rajasthan University 3-0 to
reach the quarter- finals of the individual events in the All-India
Interuniversity squash tournament yesterday. The event is co-sponsored bt
avon Cycles Ltd and organized by the sports Council of HR College in
association with the University of Mumbai, in association with the
University of Mumbai, in collaboration with the Indian Squash Professional
and played at the CCI courts. Suhail Kapoor (Delhi) Defeated Karan Singh
(Punjab) in straight sets. Second seed Dhiraj Nagpal and third seed Siddhart
Sharma also had easy outings.

TOP SEED Vikram Malhotra and third seed Dhiraj Nagpal,
both students of HR College, stormed into the finals of the Mumbai
University Inter-Collegiate Squash Championship at police Gymkhana on
Tuesday.
Vikram Malhotra defeated fourth seed Arun Sharma from
Lokmanya Tilak College in Straight sets 11-5, 11-5, and 11-9 while Dhiraj
Nagpal upsets second seed Cyrus Vakil 11-8, 11-4,11-7.

As expected the top seed Vikram Malhotra clinched the
title defeating the third seed Dhiraj Nagpal in straight sets of the Mumbai
University’s Inter-collegiate Squash Championship 2007 hosted by the Indian
Squash Professional and played at police Gymkhana.
The 17-years-old was favorite to triumph as his ranking
was far superior to his senior counterpart. The first two sets were smooth
sailing for him but in the third set Nagpal tried to fight back but failed
to take the match in the fourth set. This has been a lucky first time for
Malhotra who managed to defeat last year’s winner Dhiraj Nagpal 11-8,
11-8,12-10(3-0).

Mumbai, Nov .13: Vikram Malhotra oh H.R. College
claimed his maiden inter-collegiate title defeating champion and
college-mate Dhiraj Nagpal 11-8, 11-8, 12-10(3-0) in the final of the Mumbai
University inter-collegiate squash championship 2007 hosted by HR College
and Organized by the Indian Squash Professional at Police Gymkhana here on
Tuesday.
I very confident of winning this tournament as I have
been in good form. The Belgium experience helped me a lot,’ said Malhotra
who took on an opponent four years his senior.
Both players looked in tremendous form in the
semi-finals. Malhotra beat fourth seed Arun Sharma from Lokmanya Tilak
College 11-5, 11-5,11-9 while Nagpal upset second seed Cyrus Vakil 11-8,
11-4, 11-7.

It was day dominated by the top seeders who played
accordingly to make it to the finals of the Mumbai University
Inter-Collegiate Squash Championship 2007 hosted by HR College and organized
by the Indian Squash Professionals at Police Gymkhana on Tuesday.
Top seed Vikram Malhotra and third seed Dhiraj Nagpal
stormed into the finals to set up a title clash.
Both the players also students of HR College looked in
tremendous for, to defeat their semi-final opponent. Vikram Malhotra
defeated fourth seed Arun Sharma from Lokmanya Tilak College in straight
sets 11-5, 11-5, 11-9, while Dhiraj Nagpal upset second seed Cyrus Vakil
11-8, 11-4, 11-7.
The final
clash will be played between two friends who practice daily at Otter’s Open,
Bandar and are also from the same college. But Vikram Malhotra is four years
younger to Dhiraj Nagpal so a mouth watering final is one the cards.
