At the Otters Club
today. It took Pawar only 20 minutes to end the challenge of Riaz Mohammed
winning 15-9, 15-12, 15-12.
The other semi final
was better contested with Vinit Chauhan of The Leela giving Mohite a tough
fight. Mohite won at 15-4, 17-16, 15-10.
Top professional
Chandrakant Pawar emerged champ in the 2nd Pro-Master Squash
Tournament, co-sponsored by Monarch Builders, Haveli Restaurant and Big
Ben Creations.
In the final played at
the Otters Club on Saturday, Pawar defeated Gopi Mohite in straight games
15-7, 15-13, 15-7. The only time Pawar was in spot of trouble was in the
second game, when scores were tied at 13-13. But Pawar managed to get out
of that spot.
Pawar took home the
winner’s purse of Rs.5,000 while Mohite had to be content with Rs.3,000.
There were prizes for all the participants.
Vijay Sonawane was
adjudged the most promising player.
Leading professional
Chandrakant Pawar will take on Gopi Mohite in the final of the Pro-Masters

In the semi finals on
Friday, Pawar brushed aside the challenge of a much younger Riaz Mohammed
to win 15-9, 15-12, 15-2 in a match which lasted barely 20 minutes.
This was Pawar’s
second consecutive entry into the finals of this tournament. In the second
semi-final, Mohite got the better of the inexperienced Vinit Chauhan,
winning 15-4, 17-16, 15-10.
The semi finalists were
spotted at the 2nd Pro-Masters Squash tournament for
professionals being played at the Otters Club. The tournament is
co-sponsored by Monarch Builders, Haveli Restaurant and Big Ben Creations.
In the quarterfinals on Thursday, while Vinit Chauhan dropped a game, Riaz Mohammed, Chandrakant Pawar and Gopi Mohite won in straight games to make the
last four grade.
Vinit had a brief lapse
of concentration, during which he lost the second game, before recovering
to beat Sunil Verma 17-15, 3-15, 15-10, 15-7.
