IT WAS good learning experience for young, budding
squash players as they partnered.
Senior players in the handicap doubles event in the
Khar Gymkhana ISP Mumbai Open squash championships, sponsored by Ashwini
Jewellers, at the Khar Gymkhana.
Ness Billimoria playing along with Raghav Mehrotra
went on to script a hard-fought 17-16, 12-15, 15-7 win against Arun
Kochhar and Ishan Advani.
Meanwhile, A.I.Singh and the seven-years-old Rajat
Agarwal combined well to get the better of Pranay Merchant and Karan
Kochhar 15-17, 17-15.
VIKRAM MALHOTRA and Niraj Shirgaokar combined well to
claim the top honours in the top eight doubles final of the Ashwini
Jewellers sponsored Khar Gymkhana –ISP Mumbai Open Squash Championships.
Vikram and Niraj easily defeated top seeds Manish
Chotrani and his younger partner Dhiraj Nagpal 15-11, 8-15, 15-12, 15-11
to take home winner’s purse of Rs. 10,000/-. The runner-up had to be
content with Rs 8,000/-.
The handicap doubles event was won by Shashi Gupta
and Sonu Mirani, who defeated Bipin Batra and Avinash Bhatiaji 15-12,
12-15, 15-12.
Young and budding squash players gained valuable
match practice while partnering senior players in the first round of the
handicap doubles event in the Khar Gymkhana –ISP Mumbai Open Squash
championships, at the Khar Gymkhana.
While Ness Billimoria paired up with Raghav Mehrotra
to win a tough three-game match over Arun Kochhar and Ishan Advani 17-16,
12-15, 15-17, A.I.Singh and seven years-old Rajat Agarwal got the better
of Pranay Merchant and Karan Kochhar 15-11, 17-15. in another match that
went the distance, the host club’s veteran pair of Ashish Gupta and Ashok
Nagpal, rallied to defeat Debashis Das and Elvis Sequira 15-10, 11-15,
15-13.
