Malhotra, the top two seeds, were just too incisive and too aggressive as
they overpowered their respective rivals, Cyrus Vakil and Naishad Lalwani on
their way to the boys Under-17 final of the Suburban Mumbai inter-school
squash tournament, organised by Suburban Mumbai Sachool Sports Association
and hosted by Juhu Vile parle Gymkhana on Saturday. Manek triumphed at 9-6,
9-1, 9-3 while Vikram recorded an equally comfortable 9-1, 9-3, 9-1 victory,

Top seed Manek Mathur was
in irresisrible form as he routed second seeded Vikram Malhotra in straight
games to bag the boys under-17 title in the Suburban Mumbai inter-school
squash tournament, organised by Suburban Mumbai School Sports Association
and hosted by Juhu Vile Parle Gymkhana yesterday. The lefthander from
Cathedral blasted Vikram 9-1, 9-3, 9-0 for the top honours. Cathedral boys
under-11 final contest turned out to be quite engrossing. Top seed Mahesh
Mangaonkar of Don Bosco (Borivali) was surprised by second seeded Tarun
Nambiar in four games. The Cathedral boy triumphed at 9-2, 9-6, 8-10, 9-2.
The two have met eight
times so far with Mahesh leads 5-3. Among the girls, Ankita Sharma provided
the most pleasing display in the under-13 finals. Ankita over-powered Soumya
Kharki 8-10, 9-7, 3-9, 9-4, 9-0.
Sanghvi downs Tata in a thriller (Article in Mid-Day 27/8/2004)
Dhruv Sanghvi was
tentation initially and was down by a game against Neville Tata before
recovering to score over his rival to make the boys under-13 third round of
the Suburban Mumbai Inter-School squash tournament, hosted by Juhu Vile
Parle Gymkhana Club yesterday.
Dhruv prevailed 4-9, 9-7,
9-6, 7-9, 9-7 in a dingdong battle which proved to be the day’s most
engrossing tie.
In the boys under-15
opening round, a badminton player who switched to squash was very impressive
while blanking out Tushar Chaturvedi 9-0, 9-0, 9-0. Rohan Zaveri was fully
stretched by Monil Gala before Rohan advanced into the second round in the
same category with a 10-8, 2-9, 5-9, 9-5, 9-4 win.
