match between Amit Kohli and Jamshed Pandole on Saturday, Jamshed Pandole
the third seed failed to over-power Amit Kohli.Amit Kohli displayed an excellent game of squash to outplay Pandole
9-10, 5-9, 9-6, 9-3, 9-4.To
make place in the semifinal.Amit
Kohli was two sets to 0 down and 0-5 down but he fought back to win 9-6 in
the third game and also took the remaining two games.

seed Akhil Behl downed second seed Arif Paul 9-7, 5-9, 9-5, 9-2 to win the
under-19 title of the Khar Gymkhana Open squash tournament sponsored by Continental
Contractors and Monarch and organised by Maharashtra Squash Professionals.
Akhil
was the steadier of the two and he often got the better of Paul in long
rallies. The match lasted an hour and five minutes. Akhil won Rs.5,000 as
the runner’s up. Both players are members of the Indian team to take
part in the World team championships in Cairo next month. Akhil had gotten
the better of Arif in the nationals last year.
Akhil
Behland Arif Paul, who have
been picked in the Indian team for the forth coming world team squash
event in Cairo, took their places in the semi finals of the Khar Gymkhana
open squash championships sponsored by Continental Contractors and
Monarch, and organised by Maharashtra Squash Professionals.
Behl
had a easy 3-1, 9-0, 9-1 win over Abhijit Kukerja. Paul, had to do lot of
running before he disposed of the challenge of Carl Bokdawala 10-8, 9-6,
8-6, 9-6.
Siddharth
Malhotra outplayed Sharanpal Chadda 3-0 on the opening day o the Khar
Gymkhana Open Squash tournament, here today.
A
leading under-19 player, Malhotra moved Chadda all over the court,
eventually clinching the first round match with a splendid backhand down
the line.
Fourteen
year old Girish Lakhani also won his first round match in straight games
displaying fine control and speed while beating Shaffin.
