Top seed Aishwarya Singh
of Jindal Squash Academy overcame a sluggish start and
then had to fend off some anxious moments in the end
before getting the better of second seed and academy
mate Puneet Pareek in boys under-19 final of the first
leg of the Indian Squash Professional (ISP) organised,
Rs 4 lakh prize-money All-India JVPG-Coke Squash
Carnival, at the Juhu Vile Parle Gymkhana courts.
Aishwarya dropped the first game, then recovered
brilliantly to win the next two, before having to dig
deep in the fourth to emerge a 4-11, 11-6, 11-2, 12-10
winner. The boy’s under-17 final was even closer, with
top seed Sandeep Paswan rallying brilliantly after
dropping the first two games to second seed Aryaman Adik
of Otters Club , before winning 6-11, 8-11, 11-5, 11-9,
11-4 to cap a fine day for the Jindal Squash Academy.
The boy’s under-15 final saw Tushar Shahani
defeating Rahul Baitha 11-6, 12-10, 11-9, while in the
under-13 final second seed Advait Adik ended the fine
run of fifth seeded Deepak Mandal, winning 11-5, 11-4,
7-11, 11-5.
