Gaurav Nandrajog stunned first seed Sandeep
Jhangra 3-2 (7-11, 7-11, 12-10, 11-8, 11-7) in
final match of the Coca-Cola Squash Open Championship 2012, played at
Kendriya Vidyalaya Squash Courts, R K Puram.
This
is an outstanding return of Gaurav, who came back from an injury after a
year. In 2006 Senior National Squash Championship, he beat Ritwik
Bhattacharya in the semi-final match.
Sandeep,
who clinched Bronze Medal in team championship category of the 2010 Asian
Games, won first two games to give a tough fight to Gaurav. But, Gaurav
found his lost form in the third game and after that, he won last three
games continuously to claim the prize money of Rs 35,000/-.
In
Men’s U-23, Karm
Kumar became the first champion of the newly introduced category of
the 105th tournament, organised by Indian Squash Professionals
(ISP). Karm
thrashed Rishi Jalan 3-0 (11-8, 11-8, 11-7) in the final match.
In
Girls U-19 final match, Urwashi Joshi (JSW) Birla
College, Mumbai easily defeated Tanvi Khanna 3-0 (11-7, 11-7, 11-5).
In
Boys’ U-17 final, Ranjit Singh upset Ashwary Singh of
Jindal
Squash
Academy
, Mumbai 3-0 (11-9, 11-4, 11-3)
in the toughest match of Day 6.
More
than 350 players of all age-categories from all over the country competed
for the whopping prize money of Rs
3.25 Lacs. They cheered by Squash players, enthusiasts and school
children along with their parents.

9-11,11-4,11-2 in men’s open category of the Coca Cola Squash Open
Championship played at Kendriya Vidyalaya Squash Courts, R K Puram. Gaurav
, who stunned Ritwik Bhattacharyain
the semi final of the Senior National Squash Championship 2006, lost of
quarter final match in last year’s National Championship to finish in
the top 10 national ranking. In men’s U-23 Section , Laxman Joshi of
Jindal Squash Academy , Mumbai outplayed Paramjit Singh
6-11,11-6,11-0,12-10 in newly introduce category . Laxman , who finished
runner up at the National Junior Squash Championship 2004 in U-15 category
, lost the first game but came back brilliantly to beat Paramjit of Indore
in the toughest match of Day 3 of the 105thtournament organized by Indian Squash Professionals (ISP)
In a lop
– sided affair top seed Sandeep Jangra outplayed Karm Kumar 3-0
(13-11,11-3,11-7) to enter men’s open final of Coca Cola Squash
Championship at
Kendriya Vidyalaya Squash Court
in the capital on Saturday.
Jangra
who clinched the bronze medal in team championship category at the 2010
Asian Games will lock horns with Gaurav in the summit clash of the men’s
open at the 105th tournament organized by Indian Squash

Aishwarya will take on Ranjit Singh who beat Junnaid Muzzafar 3-2 (11-6 ,

Championship 2012, played at Kendriya Vidyalaya Squash Courts RK Puramon Sunday. It was an outstanding return of form to Gaurav who came
back from injury after a year. In the 2006 Senior National Squash
Championship , he had beaten Ritwik Bhattacharya in the semi-finals.
Sandeep , who clinched bronze in the team championship category of the
2010 Asian Games, won the first two games to give a tough fight to Gaurav.
But Gaurav found his form in third game and won the last three games on
the trot to claim the prize money of Rs 35,000.

Rules
and Regulations of the Championship:
American
/ Point a Rally scoring of 11 points upto 2 clear points, best of 5
games.
There
will be a play off for 3rd and 4th positions for
all categories and in some categories till 8th place which
will be intimated after all entries have been received.
Eye
protection mandatory for all junior players. Incase of not wearing
eye-wear, junior players will not be allowed to play any match.
Players
are required to report 20 minutes before the scheduled match time.
Players
can enter one category but seeds will also be included in a higher
category according to entries received.
There
will be an additional category only for KV Delhi students which will
also be played. KV players will be advised separately about this
category.
The
Handicap Singles is only for un-seeded men’s players who are not
expected to win any tournament category. The rules for Handicaps will
be modified by the Tournament Committee / Director to ensure that
every player gets an equal opportunity to win.
In
event of any dispute Tournament Directors/Committee decision will be
final and binding on the participants.
Incomplete
forms and illegible forms will be rejected. Participants are advised
to write complete details clearly in block letters.
Prizes
will not be given to the players who are not present on the prize
distribution day.
